Panel Style Assembly Program
GREAT PROGRAM AT NYC
May 7, 2024
Career Connect Expo, the first collaboration with the NYC Board of Education and the Division of Multilingual Learners and Internationals Network. This program brought together seven inspiring speakers from diverse industries to engage and motivate students from over 20 schools across the city, reaching an audience of 150 students.
The program began with a light lunch, providing an opportunity for speakers, students, and attendees to connect and prepare for the day ahead. Students then explored various booths hosted by esteemed organizations such as the New York Police Department, JOVIA Financial Credit Union, NPower, Reel Works, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, Grace Institute, The Knowledge House, and the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York.
Our distinguished speakers included:
- Arthur Attal, Co-Founder of Domos
- Deepika Cattry, Associate Director of US HCP Immunology Marketing at Bristol Myers Squibb
- Police Officer Miguel Gomez, Office of the Chief of Personnel, NYPD
- Glen Landow, Architect at Landow & Landow Architects
- David Linarez, Infrastructure Manager at JOVIA Financial Credit Union
- Richard Tavarez, Community Relations Officer at JOVIA Financial Credit Union
- Andrej Recickis, Principal at Ernst & Young
The panel discussion focused on multilingual opportunities in various industries, featuring languages such as Hindi, Spanish, Russian, Latvian, and French. Students learned about career paths in fields like pharmaceuticals, business, entrepreneurship, finance, architecture, engineering, and technology.
Following the panel, students participated in breakout sessions, choosing their sessions based on their language or industry interests. This allowed them to engage directly with professionals in their preferred fields, gaining valuable insights and inspiration for their future careers.
